WADE auctions have been such a great success. Let’s continue the tradition this year during the annual meeting. You can help make this happen by contributing to the fun. There are many ways to help either with an item or by soliciting contributions.
2014 contributions were fantastic with a variety of merchandise. Thanks very much to those who contributed items. Some examples and ideas for this year are listed below. Please think outside the box and use your creativity to help make 2015’s auction exciting and successful. Many of you have talents, hobbies and skills that you have shared with WADE in the past and we are looking forward to your contribution this year. It is great to see your talents shine for this wonderful memorial to Karen.
It is a good time to shop for those special gifts that may never be found in a store. Consider donating that recent gift that you already have! All of the proceeds will be applied to the Karen Shultz-Goldstein Memorial Lecture Fund. The funds are used to bring well known keynote speakers for WADE's annual conferences.
THANK YOU IN ADVANCE FOR YOUR CONTRIBUTIONS
Here are a few ideas for contributions:
Electronics: Items such as I-pods, electronic readers, and cameras are very successful.
Arts & Crafts, Hobbies: Jewelry, wood project, sewing project, knitted item, or other items that you are willing to share.
Theme Baskets: Such as a wine or newborn basket or a wedding anniversary basket with a romantic weekend get away. Possibly a hotel would donate a nights stay, and a restaurant the dinner in exchange for the advertisement and exposure of their business.
Special Services: Ideas would be a spa treatment or new hairstyle to extend to potential new customers.
Vacation Destinations: Do you or someone you know have a vacation home, condo or time-share? Please consider donating accommodations.
Gift Cards: Do you have a gift card for a national chain restaurant, bookstore, clothing store, etc. that you don’t think you’ll use? Or just buy a gift card to donate!
Vendors: Sales people are often good sources of event tickets – sports, music, and theater. They occasionally have access to incentive gifts and other items that they might be willing to donate, you just have to ask.
Diabetes Education Resources: Many of you have developed tools for diabetes education. Here’s an opportunity to promote yourself, while supporting WADE.
To donate an item for the auction: Complete the Donation Form on the WADE website (WADEpage.org ) and e-mail it to or send to Chris Pelto by regular mail (her address is on the form). If you need help in getting your contribution(s) to the meeting we can help you. Just indicate that need on the Donation Form.
Questions? email Chris Pelto
All proceeds will benefit the Karen Shultz-Goldstein Memorial Lecture Fund & are tax deductable.

Thanks to our volunteers www.DiabetesAnwers.org is being updated. The healthy eating, being active, and monitoring pages are mostly done. You will notice that pages in Spanish have been added.
Links are organized differently on each page. For example on the Healthy Eating page there are links sorted by carbohydrate counting, the plate method, and recipes. At the bottom of each page there information especially for diabetes educators.
There is still more work to be done. Our aim is to use links to websites, PDFs, and videos that are mostly free of advertisements. Your suggestions are welcome.
We need volunteers fluent Spanish to review this page for relevancy and to suggest other links.
